Polecat (mustela putorius) (C)
Having become a rare animal, the Polecat is showing signs of recovery in Britain. Wales has always been a stronghold, and continues to be so.
As it breeds freely with domesticated ferrets there is some concern that the genes are being diluted by interbreeding with ferret escapees.
